Bird post: Bearded Vulture

Have you ever thought, oh man, I'd love to see a bird that's a bird but basically a dragon also.

Well, you have come EXACTLY to the right place! I'd like to introduce to you, the Bearded Vulture.

I KNOW!! I love this bird. They have this air of danger and majesty and you just wanna respect them and let them rule the Earth, resulting in an impending aviarchy. I know, I've thought about it. A lot.

Let's see, is there anything else about this bird that's as cool as heck as its appearance?

                           BIRD STATS:

Name: Bearded Vulture, or Lammergeyer, which is German for something I don't know. Personally I think it's more threatening to know this bird as Lammergeyer because it's only two letters away from "Hammergeyser" and if that doesn't scare you, I don't know what will.

Region: Mountainous regions of Europe, Asia and Africa. So, basically EVERYWHERE.

Diet: Almost exclusively BONE. They are the only animal that eats mostly bone. (about 70%-90% of their diet) According to WWF, the bird throws the bones down from rocky cliffs to break it into smaller pieces, and then they dive down after the bones in a "characteristic spiral." What. What is this bird even doing?? Is this bird in a perpetual punk-rock teenage rebellion? Come home, bearded vulture. Your parents are worried about you.

Means of Weaponry: CLAWS of DEATH, probably. I mean, I don't think I need to do much research here. This bird is dangerous. This bird could fight me and win, and that's saying something, because it's largely known that my muscles are huge.

Call: This is kind of anti-climactic. They're usually silent, but their call is just sort of a high-pitched whine. Which I suppose I can understand, because if you see a bird like that coming at you, you're not gonna think "Hmm, this bird looks dangerous, but I'm gonna wait until i know how loud it is before running away."

Appearance:

Look at those piercing eyes, that hooked beak, those tie-dye bell bottom jeans. This bird is the stuff of nightmares, and I want to hug it. You have to admit, it does indeed look like a rebellious punk teenager.

"BUT MOOOM"

I really enjoyed discussing this bird. To conclude - bearded vultures are a force to be reckoned with; they eat bones, they look like dragons, and they are silent, but Deadly. Don't hand feed it probably.

Beta Post!

Hello! My name is Kate and I really enjoy birds and movies. And sometimes I have thoughts about movies?? Even more farfetched, sometimes I have thoughts about BIRDS. So I'd like to share these thoughts, if I find that I have enough motivation to continue a blog, which I probably don't, but hey! Who knows, man.

I'll start off by introducing myself Formally. (Formally as in, like, more than my name. You know) I'm 14 years old and I've been in French Immersion for 4 years so far. I'm Canadian and I love philosophy, the English language, (no matter how often I butcher it.) art and, of course, film. Well, fiction in general is my interest. I watch a lot of TV shows and movies and I do read a lot of books when I find the time. Not to mention, being an actor is my Life Goal.

My general mission for this blog is to write a post about a movie, then subsequently a post pertaining to a bird(s) somehow, ad infinitum. Perhaps I will find a way to relate a bird AND a movie??? OOoo now it's getting interesting.

So, that's that. Stay tuned!!! Or not because if you checked it every day and I constantly forgot to update it that would be really embarrassing for me.
